I’m excited to learn that Mash Stories has now shortlisted my story, Weatherstripping. And what does being shortlisted mean? (Apart from the obvious, I mean.) It means immediate publication on their site and eventually narration of the story on the Mash Stories podcast. Exciting and nerve-wracking. Will I have the guts to listen to it? We’ll see.
Backing up a bit, Mash Stories runs a competition based on random word prompts. They provide three words and a 500 word limit and it is up to you to build a story from there. The words this quarter are blow-dryer, cockpit, and honesty. And from those three words, the submissions seem to be incredibly varied and a lot of fun to read. Worth checking out, if you haven’t already.
